My website will be for my personal freelance graphic design business, Y Design. My target audience will be business and individuals who need graphic design work, whether it be using their current corporate identity, or developing a new corporate identity.

Sample Websites:

http://www.imdesignuk.com/index.html

The first website takes a different approach to a graphic design website by presenting it in a blog-like format. The design of the site is fairly clean and straight forward. The second website has a small animated movie on the homepage that helps establish the company's image. The site is clean looking and simple with colors that are easy on the eyes. The first website has a very personal feel to it. You are welcomed into the personal life of the designer. However, the site comes off as a bit split. You don't notice right away that this is a graphic designer who is willing to work for people. It feels to much like a blog site. The second website is very simple and clean looking. Everything easily accessible. At the same time, however, it is a bit too simple. The design lacks a certain depth to it, as if the site was made in a template. There's not much to interact with and the site itself is small in scale.

Sample Websites for other kinds of companies:

The first website is fairly accessible and professional looking. The colors give off a sense of being "green" which is very popular right now. At the same time there is a lot of text on the home page, but it doesn't really say a whole lot to a business looking for their services. It's a bit confusing to know where to go to find out more about their services and whole to get them. The logo is far to complex and is at odds with the main heading of the website, resulting in a lack of memorability of the website. The second website is fairly accessible and instantly gives off a sense of being a retail website, which is the site's main purpose. The colors are easy on the eyes and gives sense of freshness and professionalism. The homepage is a big cluttered, especially with side bar advertisements. The product categories seem to be organized fairly well, but could probably use some more work to make them more accessible and appealing. The logo is simple and memorable.
